Dick McWay sent in these photos and this description of how he added a switched power distribution block to his Yamaha FJR1300. He wrote:
Here's a couple of pics of my switched power block installation. I ordered
it from the
Electrical Connection,
for about $45. It is their Universal 6 circuit unit. Includes all wiring,
connectors, relay and instruction sheet.
I got 12v switched power at RF
turn signal. Was pretty easy. I have the relay screwed to the inside of
the flat fairing panel facing your right knee. This position was selected
due to the length of the wire that was provided that runs from the battery
to the relay and then from the relay to the power block. Their wiring
already had connectors attached and I didn't have any heavy gauge wire
around to mount it anyplace else. Worked out ok as the integrated battery
charger connector is just accessible there between fairing panel and frame.
Need to get a OEM fairing screw to make it match the rest. The power block
is attached to the right, inside of the tool tray. I mounted my J&M
intercom module to the outside of the tool tray on the same side. So far it
is powering the intercom, the radar module for the intercom, the V1 radar
detector and one electric vest connector that I installed in the
same location
that HMarc did. Will be doing a 2nd electric vest connection and
power for a GPS.
