A Ride Around Lake Koocanusa

Some photos taken during a day ride from Spokane, WA to Lake Koocanusa, MT, in the fall of 2002. The route was I-90 to Cataldo, ID then over Thompson Pass to Thompson Falls, MT, the 200 to 56 to 2 to Libby, for lunch. Then continuing on US 2 to 37 towards Eureka, MT and then west to Yaak, down 508 back to 2, then to Bonner's Ferry, ID and Sandpoint, ID (for dinner) then back on 95 to Spokane.

The view downriver from the bridge over the Clark Fork, just west of Thompson Falls, MT, on Highway 200.

A pretty little valley to the west of Highway 56 near the MT/ID border, south of US Hwy 2.

Yamaha FJR1300 and Aprilia Futura along Highway 37, on the east side of Lake Koocanusa, Montana. Some local sport riders favor the twistier and less travelled road on the west side of the lake. I haven't ridden it myself.

Looking south from just north of the bridge near the middle of Lake Koocanusa, on the road to Yaak, MT.
